THE ASSAM (TEMPORARILY SETTLED AREAS) TENANCY ACT, 1971 THE ASSAM (TEMPORARILY SETTLED AREAS) TENANCY ACT, 1971 [Act XXIII of 1971] [10th December, 1971] PREAMBLE An Act to regulate the relations of landlord and tenant in the temporarily settled areas of Assam. Whereas it is expedient to regulate to the rights and liabilities of agricultural tenants and their landlords in temporarily settled lands in the State of Assam; It is hereby enacted in the twenty-second year of the Republic of India as follows" ___________________________ Received the assent of the President on the 3rd December, 1971. .....Republic of India as follows :" SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE This Act may be called The Uttar Pradesh Cantonments (Control of Rent and Eviction) (Repeal) Act, 1971. SECTION 02: REPEAL OF ACT 1 OF 1952 On and from the date on which the United Provinces (Temporary) Control of Rent and Eviction Act, 1947 is excluded by notification under section 3 of the Cantonments (Extension of Rent Control Laws) Act, 1957, to the Cantonments in the State of Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh Cantonments (Control of Rent and Eviction) Act, 1952 shall stand repealed. SECTION 03: SAVINGS (1) The repeal of the Uttar Pradesh Cantonments (Control of Rent and Eviction) Act, 1952 by section 2 shall not affect" (a) the previous operation of the said Act or anything duly done or suffered there under; or (b) any right, privilege, obligation or liability acquired, accrued or incurred under the said Act; or (c) any penalty, forfeiture or punishment incurred in respect of any offence committed against the said Act; or (d) any investigation, legal proceeding or remedy in respect of any such right, privilege, obligation, liability, penalty, forfeiture or punishment as aforesaid, and any such investigation, legal.....

SECTION 05: OFFENCES BY COMPANIES (1) Where an offence against this Act has been committed by a company, every person who, at the time the offence was committed, was in charge of, and was responsible to, the company for the conduct of its business, shall be deemed to be guilty of the offence shall be liable to be proceeded against and punished accordingly : Provided that nothing contained in this sub-section shall render any person liable to punishment, if he proves that the offence was committed.....
