Title: Security for Abstaining from Cocaine Offences

.....may at the time of passing sentence on such person order him to execute a bond for a sum proportionate to his means with or without sureties for abstaining from such offences during such period not exceeding three years as it thinks fit to fix. (2) If the conviction is set aside on appeal or otherwise the bond so executed shall become void. (3) An order under this section may also be made by an Appellate Court or by the High Court when exercising its powers of revision. (4) The proceedings subsequent to the making of any order under this section shall be regulated as nearly as may be, by the provisions of sections 120, 122, 123, 124, 125 and 126 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, as if such order had been made under section 106 of the said Code and the provisions of sections 513, 514 and 515 of the said Code shall so far as may be apply to bonds executed under this section.] ____________ 1. Title: Penalty for the Keeping or Letting of Premises for a Cocaine Offence

1[Whoever lets or uses any house, room or place of which he is the owner or occupier or of which he has the use, in such circumstances as to indicate that he knows or has reason to believe that such house, room or place is used as a resort of importers, exporters, transporters, possessors or vendors of cocaine or any of the synthetic thereof in contravention of any of the provisions of this Act shall be punished on first conviction with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees or with both and on any subsequent conviction with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to four thousand rupees or with both.] ____________ 1. .....regard to the regulation of inter- national traffic in all the drugs covered by the Convention, and secondly, in regard to the regulation of the manufacture of, and Internal traffic 'in, certain specified drugs, such as cocaine and morphine. The subject-matter of the Bill is one that under the Devolution Rules, is partly provincial, but the Local Governments have assented to the passing of Central legislation on the subject in view of the special advantages of such legislation in the circumstances. In addition to centralising and vesting in the Governor-General in Council the control of certain operations relating to dangerous drags, the proposed Bill renders uniform, and in some cases increases, the penalties for certain offences relating to dangerous drugs.""Gazette of India, 1929, Pt. .....the 1st day of April, 1976, no duty under the Central Excises Act or the Tariff Act or the Customs Tariff Act shall be levied in respect of salt manufactured in, or imported into, India. Section 39 - Amendment of Act 16 of 1955 In the Medicinal and Toilet Preparations (Excise Duties) Act, 1955, - (a) for the words "opium, Indian hemp or other narcotic drug or narcotic", wherever they occur, the words "narcotic drug or narcotic" shall be substituted; (b) in section 2, - (i) after clause (a), the following clauses shall be inserted, namely :- (aa) "coca derivative" means - (i) crude cocaine, that is, any extract of coca leaf which can be used, directly or indirectly, for the manufacture of cocaine; (ii) ecgonine, that is, laevo-ecgonine having the chemical formula C9 H15 NO3 H2O, and all the derivatives of laevo-ecgonine from which is can be recovered; and (iii) cocaine, that is, methyl-benzoyl-laevo-ecgonine having the chemical formula C17 H21 NO4, and its salts; (ab) "coca leaf" means - (i) the leaf and young twigs of any coca plant, that is, of the Erythroxylon coca (Lamk.) and the Erythroxylon novo-granatense (Hiern.) and their varieties, and of any other.....
