Title: Regulation of Exhibitions by Means of Cinematographs

Section 15 - Power to revoke licence Where the holder of a licence has been convicted of an offence under section 7 or section 14, the licence may be revoked by the licensing authority. THE CINEMATOGRAPH ACT, 19521 (Act, No. 37 of 1952) [21st March, 1952] PREAMBLE An Act to make provision for the certification of cinematograph films for exhibition and for regulating exhibitions by means of cinematographs. Be it enacted by Parliament as follows:-- ______________________ 1. This Act has been extended to Dadra and Nagar Haveli by Reg. 6 of 1963, section 2 and Schedule; Goa, Daman and Dilu by Reg. 11 of 1963, section 3 and Schedule Parts I and II of the Act shall come into force in the State of Jammu and Kashmir (w.e.f. 1-5-1974). [Vide Notification No. O.S.R. 183(E), dated 23rd April, 1974. Part III of the Act enforced in the Union Territory of Arunachal Pradesh (w.e.f. 1-10-84), (Vide S.O. 754(E), dated 29th September, 1984.

.....sub-section (1)]. Bar of certain proceedings:- 13. (1) No prosecution shall lie against any officer or servant of the State Government, for any act done or purporting to be done under this Act without the previous sanction of the State Government. (2) No officer or servant of the State Government shall be liable in respect of any such act in any civil or criminal proceedings if the act was done in good faith in the course of the execution of duties or the discharge of functions imposed by or under this Act. (3) No suit shall be instituted against the State Government and no suit, prosecution, or other proceedings shall be instituted against any officer or servant of the State Government in respect of any act done or purporting to be done under this Act, unless the suit, prosecution or other proceedings is instituted within six months from the date of the act complained of. .....as this particular subject is concerned, namely, the subject of grant of the licences to exhibit cinema shows, the provisions of the Cinematograph Act, 1918 (Act 2 of 1918) are still in force in Part A and Part B States which includes the State of U.P.
