Title: Punishment for Contravention in Relation to Cannabis Plant and Cannabis

.....of this Act or any rule or order made or condition of licence granted thereunder,-- (a) cultivates any cannabis plant; or (b) produces, manufactures, possesses, sells, purchases, transports, imports inter-State, exports inter-State or uses cannabis, shall be punishable-- 1[(i) where such contravention relates to clause (a) with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to ten years and shall also be liable to fine which may extend to one lakh rupees; and (ii) where such contravention relates to sub-clause (b),-- (A) and involves small quantity, with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine, which may extend to ten thousand rupees, or with both; (B) and involves quantity lesser than commercial quantity but greater than small quantity, with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to ten years and with fine which may extend to one lakh rupees; (C) and involves commercial quantity, with rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than ten years but which may extend to twenty years and shall also be liable to fine which shall not be less than one lakh rupees but which may extend to two lakh rupees: .....

Title: Power of Entry, Search, Seizure and Arrest in Offences Relating to Coca Plant, Opium Poppy and Cannabis Plant

The provisions of sections 41, 42 and 43, shall so far as may be, apply in relation to the offences punishable under Chapter IV and relating to coca plant, the opium poppy or cannabis plant and for this purpose references in those sections to narcotic drugs, or psychotropic substance,1[or controlled substance], shall be construed as including references to coca plant, the opium poppy and cannabis plant. ______________________ 1. Title: Special Provision Relating to Cannabis

Notwithstanding anything contained in section 8, Government may, by general or special order and subject to such conditions as may be specified in such order, allow cultivation of any cannabis plant for, industrial purposes only of obtaining fibre or seed or for horticultural purposes.

Title: Prohibition, Control and Regulation

The Tripura Excise Act, 1987 Complete Act

.....fermenting agent which the State Government may specify in this behalf by notification, such substance or agent not being opium, cocaleaf, or a manufactured drug, as defined in the Narcotic Drugs and Pschycotropic Substances Act, 1985. (o) "Liquor" means intoxicating liquor and includes all liquid consisting of or containing alcohol and any substance which the State Government, by a notification may declare to be liquor for the purpose of the Act. (p) "manufactures" includes- (i) ever process whether. natural or artificial , by which any intoxicantis produced or prepared (including the tapping of tari producing trees and the drawing of tari from trees), (ii) every process for the rectification, flavouring, blending, or colouring of liquor or for the reduction of liquor for sale; and (iii) re-distillation, (q) "Notification" means notification in the Tripura Gazette, (r) ''Pachwail' means fermented rice, millet or other grain, whether mixed with any liquor or not, and any liquid obtained therefrom, whether diluted or undiluted, but does not include beer; (s) "Place" includes building, house, shop, booth, vessel, raft, vehicle and tent ; (t) "Prescribed" means prescribed by rules.....
