.....the advertisement for certain purposes of remedies alleged to possess magic qualities and to provide for matters connected therewith. Be it enacted by Parliament as follows :- Act extended to Sikkim with modifications w.e.f. 1-11-89 - See Gaz. of Ind., 20-10-88 and 26-10-89, Pt. II, S. 3(ii), Ext., p. 3 (No. 533) and p. 2 (No. 691). The Act has been extended to the Union territory of- (1) Dadra and Nagar Haveli by Regn. 6 of 1963 (1-7-1965); (2) Pondicherry by Regn. 7 of 1963 (1-10-1963); and (3) Goa, Daman and Diu by Regn. 11 of 1963 (1-7-1965). (Goa is now a State). SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE, EXTENT AND COMMENCEMENT (1) This Act may be calledthe Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954-. (2) It extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir, and applies also to persons domiciled in the territories to which this Act extends who are outside the said territories. (3) It shall come into force on such date1as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
