The Maharashtra Land Revenue Code 1966 Complete Act

.....for the time being in force; and includes premium, rent, lease money, quit rent, judi payable by a Inamdar or any other payment provided under any Act, rule, contract or deed on account of any land; (20) "legal practitioner" has the meaning assigned to it in the Advocates Act, 1961 (2 1) "non-agricultural assessment" means the assessment fixed on any land under the provisions of this Code or rules there under with reference to the use of the land for a non-agricultural purpose; (22) "occupancy" means a portion of land held by an occupant; (23) "occupant" means a holder in actual possession of unalienated land, other than a tenant or Government lessee; provided that, where a holder in actual possession is a tenant, the landholder or the superior landlord, as the case may be, shall be deemed to be the occupant; (24) "occupation" means possession; (25) "to occupy land" means to possess or to take possession of land; (26) "pardi land" means a cultivated land appertaining to houses within a village site; (27) "population" in relation to any area means population as ascertained at the last preceding census of which the, relevant figures have been published; (28) "prescribed" means.....

Title: Of the Control of Timber and Other Forest-produce in Transit

Section 43 - Government and Forest-officers not liable for damage to forest-produce at depot The1[ Government ] shall not be responsible for any loss or damage which may occur in respect of any timber or other forest-produce while at a depot established under a rule made under section 41, or while detained elsewhere, for the purposes of this Act; and no Forest-officer shall be responsible for any such loss or damage, unless he causes such loss or damage negligently, maliciously or fraudulently. ___________________ _ 1. Indian Forest Act, 1927 Section 41

Title: Power to Make Rules to Regulate Transit of Forest Produce

.....or the possession or carrying of marking hammers or other implements used for marking timber; (i) regulate the use of property marks for timber, and the registration of such marks; prescribe the time for which such registration shall hold good; limit the number of such marks that may be registered by any one person, and provide for the levy of fees for such registration. Karnataka Preservation of Trees Act 1976 Chapter I

Title: Chapter I

.....to encourage normal growth and prevent damage or cutting or felling and includes planting of new trees and transplanting trees; (d) "relevant Act" means the enactment under which local authority is constituted; (e) "rural area" means an area and of the kind specified in Schs. Forest Act, 1963 Chapter 6

Title: Control of Timber and Other Forest Produce in Transit

.....limit the number of such marks that may be registered by any one person and provide for the levy of fees for such registration. (3) In making a rule under this section, the State Government may provide that person guilty of contravention thereof shall, on conviction, be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both; and where the contravention is committed after sunset or before sunrise, or after preparation for resistance to lawful authority, or where the offender has been previously convicted for a like offence with imprisonment which may extend to one year or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees or with both. ______________________ 1.
