.....under this Act as the 5[State Government] may, by rule, prescribe. Such fees shall be paid from the new Howrah Bridge Trust Fund created by this Act. Section 4 Repeal of Ben. Act 9 of 1871. Property and moneys of existing bridge to vest in the Commissioners in trust (1) The Howrah Bridge Act 1871, shall be repealed on and from such date as the 5[State Government] may, by notification, specify in this behalf; but this repeal shall not affect the past operation of that Act, or anything done or suffered, or any right, privilege, obligation or liability acquired, accrued or incurred thereunder. (2) All properties, funds and dues which on the said date are vested in the Commissioners for the Port of Calcutta in trust for the purposes of the Howrah Bridge Act, 1871, shall from such date vest in them as the Commissioners under this Act in trust for the purposes of this Act and for such purposes may be disposed of by the Commissioners in such manner as they think fit. (3) All contracts and liabilities which on the said date have been made or incurred by the Commissioners for the port of Calcutta for the purposes of the Howrah Bridge Act, 1871, may, so far as they are outstanding.....

.....Act. (2) The Fee Inspector shall perform such other duties as are specified in the rules made under this Act for carrying out the purposes of this Act. Section 6 - Offences and Penalties (1) Whoever- (a) attempts to cross the bridge or use the road without complying with the provisions of this Act; (b) obstruct or attempt is to obstruct the Fee Inspector in the discharge of his duties imposed by or under this Act; (c) contravenes or attempts to contravene any provision of this Act or the rules made there under or any order or direction made under such provisions or rules; or (d) fails to pay the toll; shall be liable on conviction to a fine which may extend to three thousand rupees. .....(Bridge Tails) Act, 1957. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Republic of India, as follows :- Section 1 - Short title and commencement This Act may be called the Punjab Mechanical Vehicles (Bridge Tolls) (Repeal) Act, 1976. Section 2 - Repeal of Punjab Act 1 of 1958 The Punjab Mechanical Vehicles (Bridge Tolls) Act, 1957, is hereby repealed. Provided that such repeal shall not affect " (a) the previous operation of the Act so repealed or anything duly done or suffered there under; or (b) any obligation or liability accrued or incurred under the Act so repealed; or (c) any penalty, forfeiture or punishment incurred in respect of any offence committed against the Act so repealed; or (d) any legal proceeding or remedy in respect of any such obligation, liability, penalty, forfeiture or punishment as aforesaid; and any such legal proceeding or remedy may be continued or enforced and any such penalty, forfeiture or punishment may be imposed as if this Act had not been passed. Whoever commits mischief by doing any act which renders or which he knows to be likely to render any public road, bridge, navigable river or navigable channel, natural or artificial, impassable or less safe for travelling or conveying property, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years, or with fine, or with both.
