THE BOMBAY DISTRICT MUNICIPAL AND MUNICIPAL BOROUGHS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1951 THE BOMBAY DISTRICT MUNICIPAL AND MUNICIPAL BOROUGHS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1951 BOMBAY ACT No. XLIV OF 1951 [27th November, 1951] An Act to amend the Bombay District Municipal Act, 1901, and the Bombay Municipal Boroughs Act, 1925. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Bombay Dis trict Municipal Act, 1901, and the Bombay Municipal Boroughs Act, 1925, for the purposes hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows:" SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE This Act may be called the Bombay District Municipal and Municipal Boroughs (Amendment) Act, 1951. 2-5. [The amendments made by sections 2-5 have been incorporated in the Bombay District Municipal Act, 1901, and the Bombay Municipal Boroughs Act, 1925.] SECTION 06: AMENDMENT OF ENACTMENT SPECIFIED IN SCHEDULE The enactment specified in the first column of the Schedule shall, in its application to the State of Bombay, be amended to the extent specified in the second column thereof. SECTION 02: AMENDMENT OF SECTION 88 OF ACT 1V OF 1912 In Indian Lunacy Act, 1912 (1) in Section 88- (i) after the words "has the means to maintain him" the words "or if any local authority is liable for the cost of maintenance of such lunatic under any law for the time being in force" shall be inserted; (ii) the words "or any local authority liable for the cost of maintenance of such lunatic under any law for the time being in force" shall be deleted; (iii) after the word "resides", the words "or the local authority liable for the cost of his maintenance, is constituted" shall be inserted: (iv) at the end of the marginal note, the following words shall be added, namely "or by local authority liable for such costs" Amendment of Section 89 of Act IV of 1912: (2) In Section 89- (i) in sub-section (1)- (a) after the words "such lunatic" where they occur for the second time, The words "or that any local authority is liable for the cost of maintenance of such lunatic under any law for the time being in force" shall be inserted;.....

[13th January 1948] PREAMBLE An Act to amend and consolidate the law relating to the control of rents andrepairs of certain premises, of rates of hotels and lodging houses and of evictions. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend and consolidate the law relating to the control of rents and repairs of certain premises, of rates of hotels and lodging house and of evictions ; It is hereby enacted as follows:- Section 1 - Short title This Act may be called the Bombay Rents, Hotel and Lodging House Rates Control Act, 1947. Section 2 - Extent (1) Parts I and IV of this Act shall extend to the1[Bombay area of the State of Maharashtra].
