The Indian Penal Code 1860 Complete Act

.....1908, `India', means the territory of India excluding the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Under s. 2(e) of the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act, 1969, `India' means for the purposes of this Act the territories to which this Act extends (i.e., whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir). According to s. 2(27) of Customs Act, 1962, `India' includes the territorial waters of India. SECTION 19: "JUDGE" The word "judge" denotes not only every person who is officially designated as a Judge, but also every person, who is empowered by law to give, in any legal proceeding, civil or criminal, a definitive judgement or a judgement which, if not appealed against, would be definitive, or a judgement which, if confirmed by some other authority, would be definitive, or who is one of a body of persons, which body of persons is empowered by law to give such a judgement. Illustrations (a) A Collector exercising jurisdiction in a suit under Act 10 of 1859, is a Judge. (b) A Magistrate exercising jurisdiction in respect of a charge on which he has power to sentence to fine or imprisonment, with or without appeal, is a Judge. Agricultural Credit Pass Book Act, 1984 Chapter 2

Title: Issue of Pass Books and Matters Relating Thereto

.....in favour of a co-operative society before the commencement of this Act, it shall be lawful for an agriculturist to create, after such commencement a subsequent charge on such land or interest therein or crops standing thereon in favour of a bank, as security, for any financial assistance given to the agriculturist by the bank. Section 8 - Priority of charges No charge or mortgage created on any land or interest or crops standing thereon after the commencement of this Act, in favour of Government or a co-operative society shall have priority over a charge or mortgage on such land or interest created by an agriculturist in favour of a bank as security for financial assistance given to the agriculturist by the Bank after the commencement of this Act and prior to the charge or mortgage in favour of Government or the co-operative society.

Amendment of section 5.- In section 5 of the principal Act,--- (a) for the words "and the value of the book", the words "and, if the contravention is in respect of a book, shall also be punishable with fine which shall be equivalent to the value of the book" shall be substituted; (b) after the words "to which the book", the words "or newspaper, as the case may be" shall be inserted. 7. Substitution of new section for section 7.-- For section 7 of the principal Act, the following section shall be substituted, namely:-- "7. Application of Act to books and newspapers published by Government.-- This Act shall also apply to books and newspapers published by or under the authority of the Government but shall not apply to books meant for official use only.".

Agricultural Credit Pass Book Act, 1984 Section 4

Title: Issue of Pass Books Etc.

.....entries in the pass book shall be prima facie evidence of the title of the holder thereof in respect of the land or other interest in the land or crops specified therein and shall be accepted as such by a bank for the purpose of granting financial assistance to the holder of the pass book whether or not on the security of the properties specified in the pass book. (9) The revenue officer may, from time to time require the holder of the pass book to produce it before him in order to make entries regarding mutation or transfer entered or to be entered in the revenue records. _______________________ 1. .....OF BOOKS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1955 [Act No. 55 of 1955] [29th December, 1955] An Act further to amend the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows :- 1 .Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Press and Registration of Books (Amendment) Act, 1955. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. 2 .Amendment of long title.- In the long title of the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867 (XXV of 1867) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), after the word "books" occurring in both the places, the words "and newspapers' shall be inserted. 3 .Amendment of preamble.- In the preamble to the principal Act, for the words "every book printed or lithographed in India and for the registration of such books", the words "every book and newspaper printed in India and for the registration of such books and newspapers" shall be substituted. 4 .Amendment of section 1.- In section 1 of the principal Act,- (a) in the definition of "book", the words "or lithographed" shall be.....

Title: Delivery of Books of Public Libraries

.....in Section 9 of the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867 (XXV of 1867) , the publisher of every book published is the territories to which this Act extends after the commencement of this act, shall, notwithstanding any agreement to the contrary, deliver at his own expense a copy of the book to the National Library at Calcutta and one such copy to each of the other three public libraries within thirty days from the date of its publication. (2) The copy delivered to the National Library shall be a copy of the whole book with all maps and illustrations belonging thereto finished and coloured in the same manner as the best copies of the same, and shall be bound, sewed or stitched together and on the best paper on which any copy of the book is printed. (3) The copy delivered to any other public library shall be on the paper on which the largest number of copies of the books is printed for sale, and shall be in the like condition as the book prepared for sale. (4) Nothing contained in sub-section (1) shall apply to any second or subsequent edition of a book in which edition no additions or alterations either in the letter -press or in the maps, book prints or other.....
