Title: Documents Containing Interlineations, Blanks, Erasures or Alterations

(1) The registering officer may in his discretion refuse to accept for registration any document in which any interlineation, blank, erasure or alteration appears, unless the persons executing the document attest with their signatures or initials such interlineation, blank, erasure or alteration. (2) If the registering officer registers any such document, he shall, at the time of registering the same, make a note in the register of such interlineation, blank, erasure or alteration. Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 Section 49

Title: Conversion of Indorsement in Blank into Indorsement in Full

The holder of a negotiable instrument indorsed in blanks may, without signing his own name, by writing above the indorser's signature a direction to pay to any other person as indorsee, convert the indorsement in blank into an indorsement in full; and the holder does not thereby incur the responsibility of an indorser.
