CHAPTER 01: PRELIMINARY SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE, EXTENT AND COMMENCEMENT (1) This Act may be called the Standards of Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act, 1985. (2) It extends to the whole of India. (3) It shall come into force in a State on such date as the State Government may, by notification, appoint, and different dates may be appointed for different provisions thereof in or in relation to, different- (a) areas in the State; or (b) classes of undertakings in the State; or (c) classes of goods produced, sold, distributed, marketed or transferred in the State; or (d) classes of services rendered in the State; or (e) classes of weights and measures manufactured, sold, distributed, marketed, transferred, repaired or used in the State; or (f) classes of.....
