.....of the amount paid previously; (b) that no enhancement shall be made within a period of six years from the date of the last enhancement by contract or by order of the Court, unless the land revenue or ground rent is enhanced during this period; (c) that the Court may in any case refuse to grant an enhancement for sufficient reasons to be recorded by it. THE INDIAN STAMP (ASSAM AMENDMENT) ACT, 1955 THE INDIAN STAMP (ASSAM AMENDMENT) ACT, 1955 [Act No. II of 1955] [28th March, 1955] PREAMBLE An Act further to amend the Assam Stamp (Amendment) Act, 1950, (Assam Act VII of 1950). Whereas it is necessary to amend the Assam Stamp (Amendment) Act, 1950 (Assam Act VII of 1950) in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows-- __________________________ Published in the Assam Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 30th March, 1955. Section 1 - Short title, extent and Commencement (1) This Act may be called the Assam Stamp (Amendment) Act, 1955. (2) It extends to the whole of Assam. (3) It shall come into force on the 31st day of March 1955. Section 2 - Amendment of Section 1(3) of Assam Act VII of 1950 In sub-section (3) Section 1 of the Assam Stamp (Amendment) Act, 1950, a full stop shall be inserted after the figures "1950" and the words "and shall remain in force for a period of five years" shall be deleted.
