60-second version
- Open Ask AI - Legal Research Assistant.
- Pick a topic card or write your own legal question.
- Click Ask SooperKanoon GPT - your prompt is copied and ChatGPT opens with SooperKanoon's custom legal GPT.
In one sentence
Ask AI sends your legal research questions to SooperKanoon's ChatGPT assistant - pick a starter prompt or write your own, then continue the conversation on ChatGPT.
Before you start
Ask AI lives at /ai-legal-research-assistant and is free to use - it opens an external ChatGPT session (SooperKanoon Law GPT). You need a ChatGPT account (OpenAI) to continue the conversation there. Ask AI is not the same as:
- Cases search - SooperKanoon's own judgment database
- /ask/ - community Q&A where users post and answer legal questions on SooperKanoon
Individual judgment pages also include a ChatGPT toolbar link that pre-fills a detailed case-analysis prompt for that specific judgment.
Steps
- Go to Ask AI.
- Browse topic sections (Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Family Law, Corporate Law, and more).
- Click a topic card to copy its sample prompt to your clipboard (a toast confirms the copy).
- Click Ask SooperKanoon GPT on the card - ChatGPT opens in a new tab with SooperKanoon's custom GPT loaded.
- Paste or edit the prompt in ChatGPT and send your message.
- Follow up with additional questions in the ChatGPT thread.
- Optional - from any judgment page, click ChatGPT in the toolbar for a pre-built case-analysis prompt linked to that URL.
What you'll see
The Ask AI page shows categorized prompt cards with titles and descriptions. Clicking a card copies the prompt; clicking the button opens chatgpt.com with the SooperKanoon GPT. Responses are generated by ChatGPT based on its training and SooperKanoon integration - always verify citations against Cases search and primary sources.
Common mistakes
- Expecting Ask AI to search SooperKanoon directly inside the chat page - it runs on ChatGPT; use Cases or Advanced Search for database search on sooperkanoon.com.
- Confusing Ask AI with /ask/ community Q&A -
/ask/is human community discussion; Ask AI is AI-assisted research on ChatGPT. - Relying on AI answers without checking judgments - cross-check ratios and citations on SooperKanoon before citing in court or memos.
Tips
- Edit starter prompts to include jurisdiction, year range, or forum (e.g. "Supreme Court since 2015") before sending.
- After ChatGPT suggests case names, look them up on Cases search or Citation Search for full text.
- Use judgment-page ChatGPT links when you already have a specific case open and want structured analysis bullets.
