Medicine or drug
Medicine or drug, means--(i) all medicines for internal or external use of human beings or animals;(ii) all substances intended to be used for or in the diagnosis, treatment, mitigation or prevention of diseases in human beings or animals;(iii) all substances intended to be used for or in the maintenance of public health, or the prevention or control of any epidemic disease among human beings or animals;(iv) insecticides, germicides, fungicides, weedicides and all other substances intended to be used for the protection or preservation of plants;(v) all chemical substances which re ordinarily used as intermediates in the preparation or manufacture of any of the medicines or substances above referred to. Coca derivative
Coca derivative, means--(a) crude cocaine, that is, any extract of coca leaf which can be used, directly or indirectly, for the manufacture of cocaine;(b) ecgonine and all the derivatives of ecgonine from which it can be recovered;(c) cocaine, that is, methyl ester of benzoyl-ecgonine and its salts; and(d) all preparations containing more than 0.1 per cent. of cocaine. Coca leaf
Coca leaf, means--(i) the leaf and young twigs of any coca plant, that is, of the Erythroxylon coca (Lamk.) and the Erythroxylon nivo-gratense (Hiern.) and their varieties, and of any other species of this genus which the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, declare to be coca plants for the purposes of this Act.(ii) any mixture thereof, with or without natural materials. Opium
Opium, means:(1) the capsules of the poppy (papaver somniferum L), whether in their original form or cut, crushed or powdered and whether or not juice has been extracted therefrom;(2) the spontaneously coagulated juice of such capsules which has not been submitted to any manipulation other than those necessary for packing and transport; and(3) any mixture, with or without neutral materials, of any o the above forms of opium. [Medicinal and Toilet Preparations (Excise Duties) Act, 1955 (16 of 1955), s. 2(i)]It means--(a) the coagulated juice of the opium poppy; and(b) any mixture, with or without any neutral material, of the coagulated juice of the opium poppy.
