Firmware

Firmware, 'software kept in semi-permanent memory. Firmware is used in conjunction with hardware and software. It also shares the characteristics of both. Firmware is usually stored on PROMs (Programmable Read-Only Memory) or EPROMs (Electrical PROMs).
