Definition :

Land grabbing, grabbing of any land must be without any lawful entitlement and with a view to take possession of such lands illegally, Gouri Satya Reddy v. Government of Andhra Pradesh, (2004) 7 SCC 398: AIR 2004 SC 3661. [Andhra Pradesh Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act, 1982 (12 of 1982), s. 2(e)]

Means in order to constitute an act of land grabbing, an attempt to dispossess must be followed by actual dispossession which would then constitute land grabbing so as to attract the penal provision, N.
