Definition
Kabul also kabool, an acknowledgement kabuliyat, a written agreement, being generally the counter-part of a revenue lease, to pay the assessment on the land to the Government or a zamindar.
It is generally used to express the agreement entered into by a landholder or proprietor of an estate with the government giving out the term under which the estate held.
A kabuliyat predicates a patta. A patta is granted by the zamindar as a title deed to the tenant. The kabuliyat, as its name implies, is a mere acknowledge, an engagement by the tenant to carry out the terms of the patta, Srinath Ray v. Pratap Udainath, 82 IC 879.
