Inspection, examination.
Trial by Inspection was resorted to when, for the greater expedition of a cause, some point or issue, being either the principal question, or one arising collaterally out of it, it was decided by the judges of the Court upon the evidence of their own senses. Obsolete. See 3 Bl. Com. 331. As to inspection by a judge or jury, see (English) R.S.C, Order L.
Means a careful examination of something, such as goods (to determine their fitness for purchase) or items produced in response to a discovery request (to determine their relevance to a law suit), Black's Law Dictionary, 7th Edn., p. 799.
