Hand Writing

Legal definition for Indian law research

Definition

Hand writing, what was understood by hand-writing in 1872 must now in the present times after more than a century of the enactment of that provision, be necessarily understood to include typewriting as well, since typing has become more common than handwriting and this change is on account of the availability of typewriters and their common use much after the statute was enacted in 1872, State v. S.J. Choudhary, AIR 1996 SC 1491 (1496): (1996) 2 SCC 428. (Evidence Act, 1872, s. 45)
