Definition :

Examination, shall include the examination of blood, blood stains, semen swabs in case of sexual offences, sputum and sweat, hair samples and finger nail clippings by the use of modern and scientific techniques including DNA profiling and such other tests which the registered medical practitioner thinks necessary in a particular case. [Criminal Procedure Code, 1973, s. 53 Expl.]

The act of eliciting by questions a person's knowledge of facts or science. A witness undergoes three examinations: (1) Examination-in-chief, which is made by the party calling him; (2) Cross-examination (see that title) by the opposite party; and (3) Re-examination, by the party who called the witness, which is confined to matters arising out of the cross-examination.
