Definition
Establish and maintain, the words 'establish and maintain' must be read conjunctively and it is only institutions which a religious denomination establishes which it can claim to maintain. The right to maintain institutions for religious and charitable purposes would include the right to administer them, S. Azeez Basha v. Union of India, AIR 1968 SC 667 (674): (1968) 1 SCR 833.
