Dross

Definition

Dross, the sum of that forms on the surface or molten metal largely because of oxidation but sometimes because of the rising of impurities to the surface, Commissioner of Central Excise v. Indian Aluminum Co. Ltd., 2006 (8) SCC 314.

As a marketable commodity but then percentage of the metal in dross may not by itself make if excisable, CCE v. Indian Aluminium Co. Ltd., (2006) 8 SCC 314.
