Definition

Cereals, the Act extends to home-grown cereals, that is, cereals grown in the United Kingdom being wheat, barley, oats, rye, maize, triticale, rapeseed, linseed, soyabean or sunflower-seed; that definition, however, may be extended by order to include: (1) herbage seed, flax, and any seed grown with a view to the production of oil; (2) peas and beans grown for harvesting in a dried state; (3) any crop (except grass) normally grown only for use in feeding livestock; and (4) any other arable crop (except sugar, hops, potatoes or other horticultural produce), Halsbury's Laws of England, Vol. 1(2), para 761, p. 469.
