Definition :

Subletting, 'sub-letting' means transfer of an exclusive right to enjoy the property in favour of the third party and the said right must be in lieu of payment of some compensation or rent, Delhi Stationers and Printers v. Means that there is an under-tenancy, and not a mere occupation by a licensee or an invitee of the premises, Lakshmi Narain v. Shri Krishna, 1958 All LJ 278.
