Definition
Special indorsement, an indorsement in full on a bill of exchange or promissory note, which, besides the signature of the indorser, expresses in whose favour the indorsement is made. Thus: 'Pay Mr. C.D. or order, A.B.'; the signature of the indorser being subscribed to the direction. Its effect is to make the instrument payable to C.D. or his order only.
