Sidebar, a position at the side of a judge's bench where counsel can confer with judge beyond jury's earshot, Black's Law Dictionary, 7th Edn., p. 1386.

Means the place near or before the bench where a sidebar conference takes place, Commonwealth v. Urena, 632 NE 2d 1200 (1994).
