Self-incrimination, confines to a person accused of an offence and does not include the cases of witnesses. What is protected is compulsory self-incrimination which may result in punishment for crime, People's Insurance Company v. Sardar Singh, AIR 1962 Punj 101.
Means the act of indicating one's own involvement in a crime or exposing oneself to prosecution, especially by making a statement, Black's Law Dictionary, 7th Edn., p. 1364.
Self-incrimination, no person accused of any offence can be compelled to be a witness against himself. [Constitution of India, Art. 20(3)]
