Scripture. The canonical books of the Old and New Testaments. See Articles of Religion. Art. VI. All profane scoffing of theHoly Scripture, or exposing any part theeof to contempt and ridicule, is punishable by fine and imprisonment (Roscoe on Criminal Evidence, 8th Edn. p. 666); and by 9 & 10 Wm. 3, c. 32, a conviction of a person educated in the Christian religion of having by writing or advised speaking denied the Divine authority of Scripture entails deprivation of all offices ecclesiastical, civil, or military.
