Definition :

Robbery, In all robbery there is either theft or extortion (Penal Code, 1860, s. 390)

The unlawful and forcible taking from the person of another, of goods or money to any value, by violence or putting him in fear. See Larceny Act, 1916, ss. 23 and 37, and the Garrotters Act, 1863, by which robbery with violence is felony punishable by penal servitude and whipping, if the offender be a male.
