Legal definition for Indian law research
Definition
Reclamation, means in the case of submerged or overflowed land, the rescuing of it from being submerged. The rendering of it fit for cultivation is not the original meaning in regard to the sub-merged land. That would be its meaning in regard to the reclamation of unarable land, Shamrao Pandurang v. Secretary of State, (1901) 25 Bom 32.
Means the act or an instance of improving the value of economically useless land by physically changing the land, such as irrigating a desert, Black's Law Dictionary, 7th Edn., p. 1277.
