Overtime, means (i) work at regular job done in addition to regular working hours ......... (ii) time in excess of a set period ......... (iii) beyond the regular or stipulated time (iv) to exceed the required time, Collins English Dictionary, 1983. Means time beyond or in excess of a set limit; working time in excess of a minimum total set for a given period; in excess of a set time limit or of the regular working time, Webster's Third New International Dictionary. Overtime work attracts the liability of paying overtime wages. It means in the context of working hours, period in excess of the prescribed working hours, Philips India Ltd. v.
