Definition :
Navy [fr. navis, Lat., a ship], an assemblage of ships, commonly ships of war; a fleet. [S. 57(3), Indian Evidence Act]
The discipline of the Navy was formerly regulated by certain express rules, articles, and orders, first enacted by the authority of Parliament soon after the Restoration, but it is now regulated by the Naval Discipline Act (29 & 30 Vict. c. 109), as amended by the (English) Naval Discipline Acts, 1884, 1909, 1915 (2), 1917, and 1922.
