Mulla, the word 'Mulla' is defined as a learned man. This obviously is the etymological meaning, being the same as Moulvi or Maulana, but it has also got the secondary meaning of a village schoolmaster or a person in charge of mosque, Bala Tripura Sundaramma v. Secretary of State, (106) Ind Cas 891: 1928 Mad 282.
