Majkuri

Legal definition for Indian law research

Definition

Majkuri, the word 'majkuri', according to Mr. Field was an older name of a sikmi taluq, which means older than the Decennial Settlement, and the definition of the word in Wilson's Glossary is much more favourable to the position of tenants, because it shows that tenure-holders holding a majkuri taluq were only to pay the revenue through the zamindars, Saroda Prosad Pakrasi v. Umasankar Sanyal, AIR 1927 Cal 168.
