The writ petitioner was an officer of the State Bank of India. While working as Branch Manager at Basanthnagar Branch he was chargesheeted for irregularities reported to have been committed by him in the sanctioning and conduct of advances and for demanding and accepting illegal gratification from the borrowers during his service at the said Branch.
