.....INTERESTS OF DEPOSITORS (IN FINANCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS) ACT 1997 TAMIL NADU PROTECTION OF INTERESTS OF DEPOSITORS (IN FINANCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS) ACT 1997 Act No. 44 of 1997 An Act to protect the deposits made by the Public in the Financial Establishments and matters relating thereto. BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Forty-eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- CHAPTER I. 1. (1) Short title and commencement " This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act, 1997. (2) It shall come into force at once. 2. Definitions " In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires:- (1) 'Competent authority' means the authority appointed under section 4; (2) 'deposit' means the deposit of a sum of money made with a Financial Establishment for a fixed period, for interest or return in any kind; (3) 'Financial Establishment' means an individual, an association of individuals or a firm carrying on the business of receiving deposits under any scheme or arrangement or in any other manner but does not include a company registered under the Companies Act,.....

THE ABKARI (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1997 [1] THE ABKARI (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1997 [1] (ACT 16 OF 1997) An Act further to amend the Abkari Act 1 of 1077 Preamble .-WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Abkari Act 1 of 1077, for the purposes hereinafter appearing; Be it enacted in the Forty-eighth year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1.Short title and commencement.-(1) This Act may be called the Abkari (Amendment) Act, 1997. (2)It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 3 rd day of June, 1997. 2.Amendment of section 3.-In section 3 of the Abkari Act 1 of 1077 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), for clause (17A), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:- "(17A) "transit" means to move from one place in a State to another place in that State or to any other State through the territory of the State of Kerala. Explanation.-In this clause "State" means a State other than the State of Kerala and includes a Union Territory.". 3.Amendment of Section 8.-Section 8 of the principal Act shall be renumbered as sub-section (1) of that section and,-- (a)in sub-section (1) as so renumbered for the word, ˜transit' the words.....

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Act, 1997 (24 of 1997) Section 14M

Title: Transfer of Pending Cases

All applications, pending for adjudication of disputes before the Authority immediately before the date of establishment of the Appellate Tribunal under this Act, shall stand transferred on that date to such Tribunal: Provided that all disputes being adjudicated under the provisions of Chapter IV as it stood immediately before the commencement of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Amendment) Act, 2000, shall continue to be adjudicated by the Authority in accordance with the provisions, contained in that Chapter, till the establishment of the Appellate Tribunal under the said Act: Provided further that all cases referred to in the first proviso shall be transferred by the Authority to the Appellate Tribunal immediately on its establishment under section 14.
