Title: Substitution of New Section for Section 6

For section 6 of the principal Act, the following section shall be substituted, namely:-- "6. Term of office of Chairperson and Members.--(1) A person appointed as Chairperson shall hold office for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of seventy years, whichever is earlier. (2) A person appointed as a Member shall hold office for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office and shall be eligible for re-appointment for another term of five years: Provided that no Member shall hold office after he has attained the age of seventy years. (3) On ceasing to hold office, a Chairperson or a Member shall be ineligible for further employment under the Government of India or under the Government of any State.".

Section 18 - Amendment of section 6 of Act 28 of 1981 In section 6 of the Export-Import Bank of India Act, 1981, in sub-section (6), the words "and thereafter until his successor enters upon his office" shall be omitted. Section 19 - Amendment of section 7 of Act 53 of 1987 In section 7 of the National Housing Bank Act, 1987, in sub-section (2), the proviso shall be omitted.

Title: Holding of Government Securities by Holders of Public Offices

.....without any or further endorsement or transfer deed from each holder of the office to the succeeding holder of the office on and from the date on which the latter takes charge of the office. (3) When the holder of the office transfers to a party not being his successor in office where a Government security so held, the transfer shall be made by the signature of the holder of the office and the name of the office in the manner laid down in section 5. (4) Where the holder of the office is temporarily absent for more than a fortnight from his office for any reason, he may authorise in writing such other person, who would be incharge of this office during the period of such absence, to effect transfer of the Government securities. (5) This section applies as well to an office of which there are two or more joint holders as to an office of which there is a single holder.
