Title: Deductions to Be Made in Computing Total Income

.....any premium or other payment made on an insurance policy other than a contract for a deferred annuity as is not in excess of twenty per cent of the actual capital sum assured. Explanation : In calculating any such actual capital sum assured, no account shall be taken (i) of the value of any premiums agreed to be returned, or (ii) of any benefit by way of bonus or otherwise over and above the sum actually assured, which is to be or may be received under the policy by any person. (4) The persons referred to in sub-section (2) shall be the following, namely: (a) for the purposes of clauses (i), (v), (x) and (xi) of that sub-section, (i) in the case of an individual, the individual, the wife or husband and any child of such individual, and (ii) in the case of a Hindu undivided family, any member thereof; (b) for the purposes of clause (ii) of that sub-section, in the case of an individual, the individual, the wife or husband and any child of such individual; (c) for the purpose of clause (xvii) of that sub-section, in the case of an individual, any two children of such individual. (5) Where, in any previous year, an assessee (i) terminates his contract of insurance.....

.....Act, 1919, the Secretary of State with the concurrence of both Houses of Parliament shall submit for the approval of His Majesty the names of persons to act as a commission for the purposes of this section. (2) The persons whose names are so submitted, if approved by His Majesty, shall be a commission for the purpose of enquiring into the working of the system of government, the growth of education, and the development of representative institutions, in British India, and matters connected therewith, and the commission shall report as to whether and to what extent it is desirable to establish the principle of responsible government, or to extend, modify, or restrict the degree of responsible government, then existing therein, including the question whether the establishment of second chambers of the local legislatures is or is not desirable. (3) The commission shall also inquire into and report on any other matter affecting British India and the provinces, which may be referred to the commission by His Majesty.] ________________________ 1. .....salary in that previous year or eight thousand rupees, whichever is less. Explanation : In clause (d) of this sub section and in clause (d) of sub section (1) of section 87, "salary" shall have the meaning assigned to it in clause (h) of rule 2 of Part A of the Fourth Schedule; (e) if the assessee is an employee participating in an approved superannuation fund, any sum paid in the previous year by him by way of contribution towards the superannuation fund; (f) where the assessee is an individual, any sums deposited, in the previous year by the assessee out of his income chargeable to tax, in a ten year account or a fifteen year account under the Post Office Savings Bank (Cumulative Time Deposits) Rules, 1959, as amended from time to time. .....Lok Adalat under sub-section (1), it-- (a) shall direct each party to the application to file before it a written statement, stating therein the facts and nature of dispute under the application, points or issues in such dispute and grounds relied in support of, or in opposition to, such points or issues, as the case may be, and such party may supplement such statement with any document and other evidence which such party deems appropriate in proof of such facts and grounds and shall send a copy of such statement together with a copy of such document and other evidence, if any, to each of the parties to the application; (b) may require any party to the application to file additional statement before it at any stage of the conciliation proceedings; (c) shall communicate any document or statement received by it from any party to the application to the other party, to enable such other party to present reply thereto. (4) When statement, additional statement and reply, if any, have been filed under sub-section (3), to the satisfaction of the Permanent Lok Adalat, it shall conduct conciliation proceedings between the parties to the application in such manner as it thinks.....
