THE ASSAM ADVOCATES WELFARE FUND ACT, 1998 THE ASSAM ADVOCATES WELFARE FUND ACT, 1998 [Act NO. XVIII of 1999] Published in Assam Gazette Extraordinary, dated 5th June, 1999. PP-561-580 [01st June, 1999] PREAMBLE An Act t o provide for constitution of a Welfare Fund for the benefit of Advocates in the State of Assam and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. It is hereby enacted in the Forty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows-- Section 1 - Short title, extent and commencement (1) This Act may be called the Assam Advocates' Welfare fund Act, 1998. (2) It extends to the whole of Assam. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint ((with effect from 1.4.2001), vide Notification No. LGL. 40/98/166, dated 14th March, 2001, Published in the Assam Gazette Extraordinary (No. 45), dated 29th March, 2001). Section 2 - Definitions In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires.-- (a) "Advocate" means a person whose name has been entered in the State roll of advocates prepared and maintained by the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya,.....

THE KERALA RATION DEALERS' WELFARE FUND ACT, 1998 1 THE KERALA RATION DEALERS' WELFARE FUND ACT, 1998 1 ( Act 16 of 1998) An Act to provide for the constitution of a Fund to grant relief to, and to promote the Welfare of, the ration dealers in the State of Kerala Preamble.- WHEREAS, it is considered expedient to provide for the constitution of a Fund to grant relief to, and to promote the welfare of, the ration dealers in the State of Kerala and for matters incidental or ancillary thereto; BE it enacted in the Forty-ninth year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement.- (1) This act may be called the Kerala Ration Dealers' Welfare Fund Act, 1998. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Kerala. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint. 2. Definitions.- In this Act unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) ˜contribution' means the sum of money payable to the fund under section 6; (b) ˜family' means wife or husband, as the case may be, minor sons and unmarried daughters, dependent parents and mentally retarded.....

.....Labour Act, 1951, in its application to the State of Kerala, for the purpose hereinafter appearing; BE it enacted in the Forty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1.Short title, extent and commencement."(1) This Act may be called the Plantations Labour (Kerala Amendment) Act, 1998. .....this Act (45 of 1860), be deemed to be a public servant within the meaning of section 21 of the Indian Penal Code. SECTION 18: INDEMNITY TO PERSONS ACTING UNDER THIS ACT No suit, prosecution or other legal proceedings shall be instituted against any person for anything which is in good faith done or intended to be done under this Act or rules made thereunder. SECTION 19: POWER TO MAKE RULES (l) The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, make rules for carrying out the purposes of this Act. (2) In particular and without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing power, such rules may provide for all or any of the following matter, namely:-- (a) the form and the manner of, maintenance of registers or records under this Act; (b) (i) the form of application for registration of a marriage bureau; (ii) the documents to be submitted therewith by the applicant (iii) the amount of fees for grant of and renewal of, such registration; (iv) the form of certificate of registration to be granted to a marriage bureau and the terms and conditions subject to which such registration may be granted; and (v) the manner and procedure of filing an appeal to the Registrar.....
