FACTORIES ACT, 1948 FACTORIES ACT, 1948 63 of 1948 An Act to consolidate and amend the law regulating labour in factories. WHEREAS it is expedient to consolidate and amend the law regulating labour in factories; It is hereby enacted as follows:- SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE, EXTENT AND COMMENCEMENT (1) This Act may be called the Factories Act, 1948. 1[(2) It extends to the whole of India 2[***]]. (2) On the application of the provisions of the said Act to any catering establishment under sub-section (1), the Inspector appointed under this Act shall be deemed to be the Inspector for the purpose of the enforcement of the provisions of the said Act within the local limits of his jurisdiction. (3) The Government may, by like notification, cancel or vary any notification issued under sub-section (1). Prohibition of employment of children:- 17.
