THE MADURAI CITY MUNICIPAL CORPORATION ACT, 1971 (TAMIL NADU ACT XV of 1971) THE MADURAI CITY MUNICIPAL CORPORATION ACT, 1971 (TAMIL NADU ACT XV of 1971) An Act to provide for the establishment of Municipal Corporation for the City of Madurai in the State of Tamil Nadu. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Tamil Nadu in the Twenty Second Year of the Republic of India as follows: CHAPTER " I PRELIMINARY 1. SHORT, TITLE, EXTENT AND COMMENCEMENT : (1) This Act may be called The Madurai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1971. Title: Supply of Water for Domestic Purpose Not to Include Any Supply for Certain Specified Purpose

The supply of water for domestic purposes shall not be deemed to include any supply,- (a) for any trade, manufacture or business; (b) for gardens or for purposes of irrigation; (c) for building purposes; (d) for fountains, swimming baths, public baths or tanks or for any ornamental or mechanical purposes; (e) for animals, where they are kept for sale or hire for the sale of their produce or any preparation therefrom; (f) for the consumption and use by the inmates of hotels, boarding houses and residential clubs; (g) for the consumption and use by the persons resorting to theatres and cinemas; (h) for constructing or for watering streets; or (i) for washing vehicles where they are kept for sale or hire; but shall be deemed to include a supply,- (i) for flushing privies or drains; and (ii) for all baths other than swimming baths or public baths.
