THE BOMBAY CITY CIVIL COURT ACT, 1948 THE BOMBAY CITY CIVIL COURT ACT, 1948 Bombay Act No. XL of 19481 (10th May 1948) (Assented to by the Governor General) For Statement of Objects and Reasons, See Bombay Government Gazette, 1948, Part V, page 7. ACT 30 of 1993 : - The Dentists Act, 1948 was enacted with the object of regulating the profession of dentistry and for that purpose to constitute Dental Councils. 2. The experience of the working of the Act has brought to light certain inadequacies. One of the most noticeable inadequacies has been the mushrooming of the dental colleges without adequate academic and training facilities as laid down in the regulations of the Dental Council of India. At present, the law does not require any one to seek the prior permission of Dental Council of India before establishing a new dental college or for adding a new course of study or post- graduate course or for increasing the capacity of 'students in any existing college, taking advantage of these legal lacumae dental colleges were being established after obtaining the permission of the State Government and affiliation from the University concerned. Amending Act 24 of 1959 :- The Pharmacy Act, 1948 (8 of 1948), which provides for the regulation of the profession and practice of pharmacy has been in force since 1948. This Bill seeks to amend the Act so as to give effect to the following objects, namely :- (1) the extension of the Act to the areas comprised in the former Part B States; (2) the introduction of provisions necessary to meet the situation which has arisen on account of the reorganisation of States which took effect on 1st November, 1956; (3) the registration of certain categories of persons. Vindhya Pradesh to which the Act was extended by this Act, now forms part of the State of Madhya Pradesh - See Act 37 of 1956, S. 9(l)(e). Rehabilitation Finance Administration Act, 1948 Section 3

(1) The Central Government shall constitute a Corporation called the Rehabilitation Finance Administration for giving financial assistance on reasonable terms to displaced persons to enable them to settle in business and industry1[or to any business or industry, a substantial portion of which is owned by displaced persons]. (2) The Corporation shall be a body corporate by the name of the Rehabilitation, Finance Administration having perpetual succession and a common seal, with power, subject to the provisions of this Act, to acquire, hold and transfer property, both movable and immovable, and shall by the said name sue and be sued. (3) The administration shall have its head office at Delhi and may, with the previous approval of the Central Government, open branches at such places in India as it may consider necessary to discharge effectively its functions under this Act. ________________________ 1. Act 21 of 1970.- The Central Silk Board Act, 1948 (61 of 1948) provides for the development of the silk industry under the control of the union and for that purpose has establishment (established) a Central Silk Board Under sub-section (2) of section 12of that act, the accounts of the Board are to be audited annually by auditors appointed by the Central Government and at present the accounts are, by consent, being audited by the Deputy Accountant General, Commerce, Works and Miscellaneous, Bombay. It is proposed to amend section 12to make specific provision authorising the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India or any other person authorised by him to audit the accounts of the Board. It is also proposed to insert a provision requiring the Board to prepare for every year a report of its activities during that year and submit it to the Central Government for being laid before Parliament. 2.
