Indian Penal Code (45 of 1860) Section 70

Title: Fine Leviable Within Six Years, or During Imprisonment-- Death Not to Discharge Property from Liability

The fine, or any part thereof which remains unpaid, may be levied at any time within six years after me passing of the sentence, and if, under the sentence, the offender be liable to imprisonment for a longer period than six years, then at any time previous to the expiration of that period; and the death of the offender does not discharge from the liability any property which would, after his death, be legally liable for his debts.

Title: Executors, Etc., Not Paying Full Court-fee on Probates, Etc., Within Six Months After Discovery of Under Payment

Where too low a court- fee has been paid on any probate or letters of administration in consequence of any mistake, or of its not being known at the time that some particular part of the estate belonged to the deceased, if any executor or administrator acting under such probate or letters does not, within six months 1*** after the discovery of the mistake or of any effects not known at time to have belonged to the deceased, apply to the said Authority and pay what is wanting to make up the court- fee which ought have been paid at first on such probate or letters, he shall forfeit the sum of one thousand rupees and also a further sum at the rate of ten rupees per cent, on the amount of the sum wanting to make up the proper court- fee. ] ________________________ 1 . Foreign Marriage Act, 1969 Section 16

Title: New Notice when Marriage Not Solemnized Within Six Months

Whenever a marriage is not solemnized within six months from the date on which notice thereof has been given to the Marriage Officer as required under section 5 or where the record of a case has been transmitted to the Central Government under section 10, or where an appeal has been preferred to the Central Government under section 11, within three months from the date of decision of the Central Government in such case or appeal, as the case may be, the notice and all other proceedings arising therefrom shall be deemed to have lapsed, and no Marriage Officer shall solemnize the marriage until new notice has been given in the manner laid down in this Act.

Title: Reference and Application to Be Disposed of Within Six Months

.....of the provisions of the Act. There has been increased use of firearms, mootly unauthorised by terrorists and others in committing violent acts. Such activities have been particularly noticed in 'disturbed areas' like Punjab and Chandigarh. The punishments provided for at present do not have a strong deterrent effect. There is, therefore, an increased need to provide for more stringent punishment to curb unauthorised access to arms and ammunition and to combat the growing menace of terrorism. It is accordingly proposed to provide for very stringent punishments for illegal possession or carrying of arms in disturbed areas and for contravention of sub-section(1B) of section 25of the Act in disturbed areas. It is also proposed to make the Punishments for other contraventions of the said sub-section(1B) more stringent. 2 The.Bill seeks to achieve the above objectives. -S.O.R. - Gaz. of India. 16-5-1985, Pt.
