.....hereafter applied; It is hereby enacted as follows :- SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE This Act may be called The Imperial Library (Indentures Validation) Act, 1902. SECTION 02: VALIDATION OF INDENTURES SET FORTH IN SCHEDULES (1) Notwithstanding anything contained inthe Societies Registration Act, 1860-, or in any other enactment or rule of law for the time being in force, the property expressed or intended to be transferred to the Secretary of State for India in Council by the indentures, whereof copies are set forth in the first and second schedules, respectively, to this Act, shall be deemed and taken to have been so transferred absolutely as and from the dates of the said indentures respectively; and the said several indentures are hereby declared valid and operative as from the said dates respectively. (2) The said indentures shall be, and from the dates thereof respectively shall be deemed to have been, valid and binding for all purposes whatsoever, and as agent all persons whomsoever claiming any right to, or any interest in or any relief respecting the property or any portion thereof, expressed or intended to be transferred thereby respectively either as members of the.....

Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 Section 35

Title: Powers of Judges and Magistrates Exercisable by their Successors-in-office

(1) Subject to the other provisions of this Code, the powers and duties of a Judge or Magistrate may be exercised or performed by his successor-in-office. (2) When there is any doubt as to who is the successor-in-office of any Additional or Assistant Sessions Judge, the Sessions Judge shall determine by order in writing the Judge who shall, for the purposes of this Code or of any proceeding or order thereunder, be deemed to be the successor-in-office of such Additional or Assistant Sessions Judge. (3) When there is any doubt as to who is the successor-in-office of any Magistrate, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, or the District Magistrate, as the case may be, shall determine by order in writing the Magistrate who shall, for the purposes of this Code or of any proceedings or order thereunder, be deemed to be the successor-in-office of such Magistrate.

Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 Section 208

Title: On Change of Master, Documents to Be Handed over to Successor

(1) If during the progress of a voyage the master of any Indian ship is removed or superseded or for any other reason quits the ship and is succeeded in the command by some other person, he shall deliver to his successor the various documents relating to the navigation of the ship and the crew thereof which are in his custody. (2) Such successor shall immediately on assuming the command of the ship enter in the official log book a list of the documents so delivered to him.

Title: Passing of Certain Assets and Liabilities of the Union to Successor States

Subject to the other provisions of this Part,-- (a) such of the assets of the Union within an existing State as are immediately before the appointed day held by the Union for purposes of the governance of that State shall, as from that day, pass to the successor State, unless the purposes for which the assets are so held are Union purposes; and (b) all liabilities of the Union arising out of, or in relation to, the governance of an existing State shall, as from the appointed day, be liabilities of the successor State, unless the liabilities are relatable to the Union purpose.
