1[Section 10-Re-election or re-nomination to Council A member of the Council, elected or nominated under sub-section (2) of section 9, shall be eligible for re-election or as the case may be, re-nomination: Provided that no member shall hold the office for more than two consecutive terms: Provided further that a member of the Council, who is or has been elected as President under sub-section (1) of section 12, shall not be eligible for election or nomination as a member of the Council.] _____________________________ 1.Substituted by the Cost and Works Accountants (Amendment) Act, 2006. Title: Officers Etc. at Election Not to Act for Candidates or to Influence Voting

(1) No person who is a returning officer, or an assistant returning officer or a presiding or polling officer at an election or an officer or clerk appointed by the returning officer or the presiding officer to perform any duty in connection with an election shall in the conduct or the management of the election do any act (other than the giving of vote) for the furtherance of the prospects of the election of a candidate. (2) No such person as aforesaid, and no member of a police force, shallendeavour,-- (a) to persuade any person to give his vote at an election; or (b) to dissuade any person from giving his vote at an election; or (c) to dissuade any person at an election in any manner. (3) Any person who contravenes the provisions of sub-section (1) or sub-section (2) shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine or with both. (4) An offence punishable under sub-section (3) shall be cognizable.

Title: Conduct of Elections

(1) Every general election of members of the Committee other than the members of the first committee of a cooperative society after its registration or any casual vacancy shall be held subject to the superintendence, direction and control of the Registrar. (2) Every general election of members of the committee shall be held within fifteen days before the date of expiry of the term of office of the committee. The date of such general election shall be fixed by the committee or in the absence of the committee by the Administrator or Special Officer. (3) Subject to the provisions of the Act, the election of members of the committee shall be held by secret ballot, in accordance with such rules as may be prescribed. ______________________________________ 1. 1 [28B. Committee to arrange forelection (1) The committee shall make arrangement for election of members of the next committee in accordance with the Act, rules and the bye-laws. (2) The members of the committee who have failed to makearrangements for election within the time limit specified in section 39A, shall be deemed to have vacated their office on the last day of the time limit so specified and such members shall not be eligible for election as members of the committee for a period of five years from the date of expiry of their term. (3) The Administrator who shall assume charge under sub-section (5)of section 28A, shall, as early as possible but within a period of six months arrange for the constitution of a new committee of the society in accordance with the Act, rules and the bye-laws.] __________________ 1. If the members of the Institute fail to elect any member under clause (a) of sub-section (2) of Section 9 from any of the regional constituencies that may be specified under that clause, the Central Government may nominate any duly qualified person from such constituency to fill the vacancy, and any person so nominated shall be deemed to be a duly elected member of the Council.

(1) As soon as may be after the appointed day, a bye-election shall be held to fill the additional seat allotted to the State of Madras in the Council of States by virtue of section 8. (2) The term of office of the member elected to the Council of States in pursuance of this section shall expire on the 2nd day of April 1962.
