Bombay Police Act, 1951, (Maharashtra) Section 90

Title: Power to Establish Cattle

(1)1[In any area2[(other than Greater Bombay)] under the charge of a Commissioner], the Commissioner3* * * * shall, from time to time, appoint such places as he thinks fit to be public pounds, and may appoint to be keepers of such pounds Police officers of such rank as may be approved by the State Government. (2) Every pound-keeper so appointed shall, in the performance of his duties' be subject to the direction and control of the Commissioner. ___________________ 1. These words were substituted for the words "In any area outside Greater Bombay" by Bom. 56 of 1959, s. 3, Schedule. 2. This portion was inserted by Bom. 34 of 1959, s. 29(1). 3. The words "or of that Act as in force in the Saurashtra area of the State of Bombay" were omitted by the Maharashtra Adaptation of laws (State and Concurrent Subjects) Order, 1960.

Title: Penalty for Offences Not Otherwise Provided for

Whoever is guilty of any wilful act or intentional omission in contravention of the provisions of this Act, or any rule, regulation, or order thereunder or of any licence, permit, pass or authorisation granted, under this Act, and if such act or omission is not otherwise made an offence under this Act shall, on conviction, be punished with the imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees or with both.

.....offender is illegitimate and an order for his maintenance has been made under section 488 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 18982, the court shall not ordinarily make an order for contribution against the putative father but may order the whole or any part of the payments accruing due under the said order for maintenance to such person or persons as may be named to be applied by him or them, as the case may be, towards the maintenance of the child or youthful offender. Ord. II of 2008), is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the Bombay Motor Vehicles Tax Act, 1958(Bom. LXV of 1958), the Bombay Motor Vehicles (Taxation of Passengers) Act, 1958(Bom. LXVII of 1958), the Maharashtra Education and Employment Guarantee (Cess) Act, 1962(Mah. XXVII of 1962), the Maharashtra Tax on Sale of Electricity Act, 1963(Mah. XXI of 1963), the Maharashtra State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Act, 1975(Mah. XVI of 1975), the Maharashtra Tax Acts (Amendment) Act, 1975(Mah. XVII of 1975) and the Maharashtra Employment Guarantee Act, 1977(Mah. XX of 1978), as amended by the said Ordinance, shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the relevant Act, as amended by this Act.
