Title: Amendment of Second Schedule

In the Second Schedule to the Income-tax Act, with effect from the 1st day of April, 2008 -- (a) in rule 60, in sub-rule (i), in clause (a), for the words "fifteen per cent. per annum", the words "one and one-fourth per cent. for every month or part of a month" shall be substituted; (b) in rule 68A, in sub-rule (3), for the words "six per cent. per annum", the words "one-half per cent. for every month or part of a month" shall be substituted.

(1) As soon as may be after the first day of April in every year and not later than such date as may be fixed by the Government the corporation shall submit to the Government, a detailed report of the administration during the preceding year in such form as the Government may direct. (2) The Commissioner shall prepare such report and the corporation shall consider the report and forward the same to the Government with its resolutions thereon, if any. (3) Copies of the administration report shall be kept for sale at the corporation office.

Title: Power to Examine and Test Sewers, Etc., Believed to Be Defective

(1) Where it appears to the Board that there are reasonable grounds for believing that a private sewer or cesspool is in such condition as to be prejudicial to health or a nuisance or that a private sewer communicating directly or indirectly with a Board sewer is so defective as to admit sub-soil water, it may examine its condition and for that purpose may apply any test, other than a test by water under pressure, and if it deems it necessary, open the ground. (2) If on examination the sewer or cesspool is found to be in proper condition, the Board shall, as soon as possible, reinstate any ground which has been opened by it and make good the damage done by it.

Whoever, being the owner or occupier of any building or land, whether tenantable or otherwise suffers the same to be in a filthy or unwholesome state, or in the opinion of the Grama Panchayat a nuisance to persons residing in the neighborhood or overgrown with prickly pear or rank and noisome vegetation ,and who shall not, within a reasonable time after notice in writing from any person authorised by the Grama Panchayat in this behalf to cleanse, clear or otherwise put the same in a proper state, have compiled with the requisition contained in such notice, shall, on conviction, be punished with fine which may extend to one hundred rupees and if the offence be a continuing one with further fine which may extend to five rupees for every day during which the said offence is continued after the date of first conviction.

Title: Punishment for Vexatious Search, Seizure or Arrest

Any officer or person exercising powers under this Act, who,- (a) maliciously enters or searches or causes to be entered or searched, any building or house or similar dwelling place; or (b) vexatiously and unnecessarily seizes the property of any person on the pretence of seizing or searching for anything liable to confiscation under this Act; or (c) vexatiously and unnecessarily detains, searches or arrests any person; or (d) in any other way maliciously exceeds or abuses his lawful powers, -shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.
