Army Act, 1950 Section 80

Title: Punishment of Persons Other Than Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Warrant Officers

Provincial Insolvency Act, 1920 Section 80

Title: Delegation of Powers to Official Receivers

(1) The High Court, with the like sanction, may from time to time direct that, in any matters in respect of which jurisdiction is given to the Court by this Act, the Official Receiver shall, subject to the directions of the Court, have all or any of the following powers, namely:--- {Cls.(a), (c) and (d) rep.by Act 39 of 1926, s.7} (b) to frame schedules and to admit or reject proofs of creditors; {Cls.(a), (c) and (d) rep.by Act 39 of 1926, s.7} (e) to make interim orders in any case of urgency; and (f) to hear and determine any unopposed or ex-parte application. (2) Subject to the appeal to the Court provided for by section 68, any order made or act done by the Official Receiver in the exercise of the said powers shall be deemed the order or act of the Court.

Assam Rifles Act, 2006 Section 80

Title: Duty of Commandant in Regard to Detention

(1) It shall be the duty of every Commandant to take care that a person under his command when charged with an offence is not detained in custody for more than forty-eight hours after the committal of such person into custody is reported to him without the charge being investigated, unless investigation within that period seems to him to be impracticable having regard to the public service. (2) The case of every person, being detained in custody beyond a period of forty-eight hours, and reason thereof, shall be reported by the Commandant to the Deputy Inspector-General under whom he is serving or such other officer to whom an application may be made to convene an Assam Rifles Court for the trial of the person charged. (3) In reckoning the period of forty-eight hours specified in sub-section (1), Sundays and other public holidays shall be excluded. (4) Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Central Government may make rules providing for the manner in which and the period for which any person subject to this Act may be taken into and detained in Force custody, pending the trial by any competent authority for any offence committed by him.

Standards of Weights and Measures Act, 1976 Section 80

Title: Non-metric Weight or Measure Not to Be Mentioned in Any Document, Etc., or to Form the Basis of Any Contract After the Commencement of This Act

(1) No unit of weight, measure or numeration shall, after the commencement of this Act, be stated in any enactment, notification, rule, order, contract, deed or other instrument in terms of any unit of weight, measure or numeration other than that of a standard unit of weight, measure or numeration. (2) On and from the commencement of this Act, no weight, measure or number other than the standard weight, measure or number shall be used in, or form the basis of, any contract or other agreement in relation to any inter-State or international trade or commerce: Provided that in relation to any goods which are exported, the weight, measure or number of such goods may be indicated thereon, or in any contract, in addition to the standard units of weight, measure or numeration, in accordance with any other system of weight, measure or numeration if the person to whom the export is to be made so requires. (3) Any contract or other agreement in contravention of the provisions of sub-section (2) shall be void. (4) No written record of the results of any measurement shall be maintained in any unit other than the standard unit of weight, measure or numeration established by or under.....

Madhya Pradesh Reorganisation Act,2000 Section 80

Title: Power to Construe Laws

Notwithstanding that no provision or insufficient provision has been made under section 79 for the adaptation of a law made before the appointed day, any court, tribunal or authority, required or empowered to enforce such law may, for the purpose of facilitating its application in relation to the State of Madhya Pradesh or Chhattisgarh, construe the law in such manner, without affecting the substance, as may be necessary or proper in regard to the matter before the court, tribunal or authority.
