Whoever, during any examination authorised by this Act, makes upon oath a statement which is false and which he either knows or believes to be false or does not believe to be true, shall be deemed to have intentionally given false evidence in a stage of a judicial proceeding.

Title: Power to Make Rules to Regulate Transit of Forest Produce

.....marks for timber or other forest produce, and the registration of such marks; prescribe the time for which such registration shall hold good; limit the number of such marks that may be registered by any one person and provide for the levy of fees for such registration. (3) In making a rule under this section, the State Government may provide that person guilty of contravention thereof shall, on conviction, be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both; and where the contravention is committed after sunset or before sunrise, or after preparation for resistance to lawful authority, or where the offender has been previously convicted for a like offence with imprisonment which may extend to one year or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees or with both. ______________________ 1. Substituted by Port Laws (Amdt) Act, 1997 w.e.f. 09-01-1997. Prior to Substitution it read as under. "Consolidated rates for combination of services. A Board may, from time to time, frame a consolidated scale of rates for any combination of the services specified in section 48 or for any combination of such service or services with any user or permission to use any property belonging to or in the possession or occupation of the Board, as specified in section 49."

Title: Punishment to Be in Accordance with the Foregoing Except by Order of a Competent Court

Title: Compensation for Injury Caused by Unlawful Assembly How Recoverable

.....to as "the municipal recovery cost") generally from all persons who were inhabitants of the disturbance area or specially from any particular section or sections, or class or classes of such persons in the said area, and in such proportion as the District Magistrate may direct. (5) (i) The District Magistrate may require the municipal body concerned to recover the compensation amount and the municipal recovery cost by an addition to the general or property tax which shall be imposed and levied in the disturbance area. Every addition to the general or property tax imposed under this sub-section shall be recovered by the municipal body concerned from each person liable therefor in the same manner as the general or property tax due from him. The provisions of the relevant municipal Act shall apply to any such addition as if it were part of the general or property tax levied under the relevant municipal Act. Such addition shall be a charge along with the general or property tax on the properties in the area aforesaid. (ii) The District Magistrate may also require the municipal body concerned to recover the compensation amount and the municipal recovery cost from each.....

Title: Perpetual Injunction when Granted

(1) Subject to the other provisions contained in or referred to by this Chapter, a perpetual injunction may be granted to the plaintiff to prevent the breach of an obligation existing in his favour, whether expressly or by implication. (2) When any such obligation arises from contract, the court shall be guided by the rules and provisions contained in Chapter II. (3) When the defendant invades or threatens to invade the plaintiff's right to, or enjoyment of, property, the court may grant a perpetual injunction in the following cases, namely:-- (a) where the defendant is trustee of the property for the plaintiff; (b) where there exists no standard for ascertaining the actual damage caused, or likely to be caused, by the invasion; (c) where the invasion is such that compensation in money would not afford adequate relief; (d) where the injunction is necessary to prevent a multiplicity of judicial proceedings.

Title: Avoidance of Wagering Contracts

(1) Every contract of marine insurance by way of wagering is void. (2) A contract of marine insurance is deemed to be a wagering contract-- (a) where the assured has not an insurable interest as defined by this Act, and the contract is entered into with no expectation of acquiring such an interest; or (b) where the policy is made "interest or no interest", or "without further proof of interest than the policy itself, or "without benefit of salvage to the insurer", or subject to any other like term: Provided that, where there is no possibility of salvage, a policy may be effected without benefit of salvage to the insurer.
