Title: Period Within Which Commissioner is to Grant or Refuse to Grant Permission to Execute Work

1 [(1)] Within thirty days after the receipt of any application made under section 299 for permission to execute any work or of any information or of documents or further information or documents required under rules or bye-laws the Commissioner shall, by written order, either grant such permission or refuse on one or more of the grounds mentioned in section 303 or section 304 to grant it. 2 [(2) If the Commissioner has not within the said period of thirty days passed any order, the applicant may address a letter to the Commissioner by name, requesting him to pass necessary orders on his application, and the Commissioner shall, within a further period of 30 days from the date of receipt of such letter, by written order, either grant such permission or refuse, on one or more of the grounds mentioned in section 303 or section 304, to grant it.] _______________ 1. Title: Prohibition of Registration of Certain Companies, Etc.

(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in any law for the time being in force, no competent authority shall,-- (a) register any company, firm or other body of persons which bears any name, or (b) register a trade mark or design which bears any emblem or name, or (c) grant a patent in respect of any invention which bears a title containing any emblem or name, the use of which name or emblem is in contravention of section 3. (2) If any question arises before a competent authority whether any emblem is an emblem specified in the Schedule or a colourable imitation thereof, the competent authority may refer the question to the Central Government and the decision of the Central Government thereon shall be final.

Title: Punishment for Culpable Homicide Not Amounting to Murder

Whoever commits culpable homicide not amounting to murder shall be punished with 1 [imprisonment for life], or imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine, if the act by which me death is caused is done with the intention of causing death, or of causing such bodily injury as is likely to cause death; or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, or with fine, or with both, if the act is done with the knowledge that it is likely to cause death, but without any intention to cause death, or to cause such bodily injury as is likely to cause death. _____________________ 1. New Delhi Municipal Council Act 1994 Section 304

Title: Disposal of Dead Animals

Whenever any animal in the charge of any person dies, the person in charge thereof shall within twenty-four hours either-- (a) convey the carcass to a place provided or appointed under section 263 for the final disposal of the carcasses of dead animals; or (b) give notice of the death to the Chairperson whereupon he shall cause the carcass to be disposed of on such fee as may be prescribed by the Council.

Emblems and Names Prevention of Improper Use Act 1950 Section 9

Title: Power to Make Rules

1[(1)] The Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, make rules to carry out purposes of this Act. 2[(2) Every rule made under this Act shall be laid, as soon as may be after it is made, before each House of Parliament, while it is in session, for a total period of thirty days which may be comprised in one session or in two or more successive sessions, and if, before the expiry of the session immediately following the session or the successive sessions aforesaid, both Houses agree in making any modification in the rule or both Houses agree that the rule should not be made, the rule shall thereafter have effect only in such modified form or be of no effect, as the case may be; so, however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under that rule.] ________________________ 1. Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 Section 304

Title: Legal Aid to Accused at State Expense in Certain Cases

State: Central

Year: 1973

(1) Where, in a trial before the Court of Session, the accused is not represented by a pleader, and where it appears to the Court that the accused has not sufficient means to engage a pleader, the Court shall assign a pleader for his defence at the expense of the State. (2) The High Court may, with the previous approval of the State Government make rule providing for (a) the mode of selecting pleaders for defence under sub-section (1); (b) the facilities to be allowed to such pleaders by the Courts; (c) the fee payable to such pleaders by the Government, and generally, for carrying out the purposes of sub-section (1). (3) The State Government may, by notification, direct that, as from such date as may be specified in the notification, the provisions of sub-sections (1) and (2) shall apply in relation to any class of trials before other Courts in the State as they apply in relation to trials before the Courts of Session.
